IBM, Sony, Toshiba Extend Chip Cooperation

According to a joint statement by Sony, IBM, and Toshiba, the three companies have signed an agreement to extend their semiconductor partnership for another five years, running until 2010. Although they stated that they will work together on the development of 32nm chip production technology, more in-depth details about the new cooperation were not revealed. The first five years of their partnership saw the development of the Cell processor and SOI (Silicon on Insulator) technology.
